Halal Steak Satay Skewers

Halal Steak Satay Skewers

If you’re looking for a quick and flavourful halal dinner, these Halal Steak Satay Skewers are the perfect choice. Instead of threading lots of tiny meat pieces, this recipe uses strips of rump steak, making it easier to prepare without losing any of the delicious satay taste. The honey marinade enhances the natural flavour of the halal beef, while the rich peanut sauce brings everything together for a meal the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup (80ml) apple cider vinegar
2 halal rump steaks (approx. 8oz each)
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cup (60ml) extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup (140g) crunchy peanut butter
1 1/2 tbsp Sriracha
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp sugar
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp fish sauce

Method:

Pickle the chilli: Combine chilli and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl and set aside.
Prepare the skewers: Preheat a barbecue or chargrill pan to medium-high heat. Slice each rump steak into three long strips and thread onto skewers.

Make the marinade: In a bowl, mix garlic, honey, and 1 tbsp olive oil. Season and brush this mixture over the skewers.

Cook the steak: Grill the skewers for 2–3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer them more well done. Once cooked, rest the skewers under foil for about 3 minutes.

Prepare the satay sauce: In another bowl, combine peanut butter, Sriracha, soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, fish sauce, and 1/4 cup water until smooth.
Serve: Arrange the skewers on a platter and drizzle with the satay sauce. Serve immediately.

This recipe is a simple way to bring the rich taste of halal steak into your weekly meals while keeping preparation stress-free. Perfect for a midweek dinner or even as a crowd-pleasing dish for gatherings.
